It’s very natural to feel this way and we’ve seen it many times before, but we’ve also seen the positive changes that clients undergo once they experience constant companionship, the realisation that they’re still in control, support in achieving their desired lifestyle and often an enhanced feeling of Independence.
The CSD Live-in Care team including your Carer are always aware that you are our customer and client. Our aim is to support and enhance your independence by being there to help when you want it and in the ways that you want. Your Live-in Carer will develop a friendship with you to a level that you are comfortable with and beyond which we will at all times respect your dignity and privacy.
The price of our service assumes that you will provide furnished accommodation and cover the cost of household bills and your Live-in Carer’s sustenance. Each Live-In Carer requires their own private bedroom with adequate storage for clothes and belongings. A separate bathroom, toilet, television, and internet access are appreciated but not mandatory. Your Live-in Carer will always respect your home, standards, and wishes. In return, we ask that you respect your Live-in Carer’s privacy when they retire to their room.
Your Live-in Carer will be happy to assist with routine housekeeping; however, they are prohibited from lifting or moving heavy objects and engaging in intensive gardening activities. Each Carer arrives fully qualified to support your needs in accordance with your current care plan. They receive training in medication support to meet legal requirements but are not nurses and cannot perform nursing or medical procedures. While Live-In Carers take pride in being available to assist you, please understand that they cannot work continuously for 24 hours a day.
If you’re not satisfied, just let us know—we value the opportunity to improve and tailor our service to your needs. You can give us four weeks’ notice at any time to terminate the service. If, after our best efforts, you’re still not happy, you won’t be tied into a lengthy or costly contract.
We understand that sometimes the decision to have a Live-In Carer is made urgently, and you may need support as soon as possible. While some providers rush to start care immediately—often without a proper support plan—this approach can be both negligent and unsafe. Our preference is to allow at least a week to carefully organize and begin your service, ensuring everything is tailored to your needs. However, in urgent situations, we will do everything possible to fast-track the process and provide the support you need. If there’s a way to clear our schedule to accommodate you sooner, we will.
As a regulated care provider, this requirement ensures transparency in our service. We welcome it, as it provides a clear record of tasks completed during support hours, including personal care, household chores, administered medications, visits from friends, family, and professionals, as well as outings and activities. This documentation helps monitor anything that may impact your well- being.
Driving is not typically included in our service, and we do not require our Live-In Carers to have their own transport. However, if you and your family choose to take responsibility for transportation arrangements, we can discuss possible solutions.
Having a Live-in Carer enables you to remain safely in your own home with one-to-one, consistent support tailored to your personal needs. This type of care also promotes independence, dignity, and better health outcomes overall.
